Coaching Presence Beyond the Session

At the heart of powerful coaching is presence.

Not just understanding presence as an idea, but actually living it, feeling it + practicing it in your own life moment by moment.

One of the biggest barriers to presence is how tightly we hold onto the past.

Many people are still carrying regret, resentment, guilt, anger or fear connected to something that has already happened. Sometimes those feelings are directed toward someone else. Often they are directed inward.

We replay conversations. We question decisions. We wish we had known then what we know now.

But in many ways, the past is simply the trail we’ve left behind.

It shows where we’ve been, but it isn’t where life is happening now.

We can change this pattern by loosening our grip on the judgments and stories we’ve attached to past experiences and letting go of the belief that things should have unfolded differently.

When we release those layers of judgment, we learn, grow and create space.

And in that space, presence becomes available again.

Recently, I’ve spent a lot of time near a river, watching the water move steadily forward.

There’s something deeply calming about observing the constant flow of water.

The river doesn’t try to return upstream…it simply continues flowing on its path.

Nature reminds us that everything is always changing and nothing stays fixed.

When we can allow ourselves to have the same kind of flow in life, to fully let go of the past and flow into the present moment with compassion, love and presence, life gets much easier.

When we release the past with kindness toward ourselves, we naturally return to the present moment. And from that place, clarity and energy begin to return.

So here’s something to reflect on this week:

What is one thing you could release to gift yourself with more presence right now?

It might be a judgment you’ve been holding about yourself, a moment you’ve labeled a mistake, lingering guilt, anger, resistance or an outdated way of seeing who you are.

You get to choose what you carry forward.

And you also get to choose what you let go.

If this resonates with you, I’d love to hear your reflections.

Share in the comments below what you’re ready to release and what being in the present moment feels like for you.

I invite you to notice how this shift affects your ability to maintain presence as a coach.

Celebrating your commitment to bringing more light into our world.
